Setting Your Goals
So your goal is to become a law enforcement officer? The best thing you can do is to start preparing early. A good work record, education, and being physically fit will go a long way to help the process. But it's not enough.
Law enforcement agencies throughout the country are starving for qualified candidates who fit a certain mold. But, despite the demand, the average candidate does not get hired. Agencies would rather have a vacancy than to hire someone just to fill a spot.
What are they looking for?
Law enforcement agencies are looking for candidates with a strong sense of morality, ethics, character, and determination.
They want individuals that are reliable, motivated, willing to be part of a team, and have a desire to be involved in their community.
They want someone who can represent their agency in the most positive manner and be the professional that the community expects of them.
They want officers that can always do the right thing and make the right choices even when the right thing is not the easy thing to do.
What we're doing...
PoliceOralInterview is committed to providing high quality, goal oriented individuals, like yourself, with the necessary coaching and preparation to pass the most difficult part of the law enforcement hiring process...the oral interview.
Where many publications at your local bookstore claim to prepare you for the law enforcement hiring process, their focus is almost exclusively on passing the written examination and the physical agility testing. Unfortunately, those publications are missing the point. Most candidates do pass the written exam and most pass the physical agility testing. It's the oral interview that is the defining phase of the hiring process.
In this manual, the author coaches and prepares you for every aspect of the law enforcement oral interview. He gets down to specific questions and answers. He coaches you on the little things...those little things that really make a big difference. This manual will give you a better understanding of how the members of a law enforcement oral interview board think and feel...and especially how they judge others who are applying for one of the most well respected professions in the world.
Additionally, the author includes sections on the two other common interviews that candidates frequently ignore...the Background Interview and the Psychological Interview. Are you familiar with "Cruise Control Questioning?" If not, you'd better find out and be prepared. It's a very simple technique that can "sink your ship" real quick if you're not familiar with what's going on.
About the Author
The author is a 37 year veteran of law enforcement... 31 years with the Los Angeles Police Department, retiring as a Supervising Detective, and is currently a Supervising Investigator with a government agency investigating medical professionals. He has sat on both sides of the interview table many times. For a period of over 20 years, he was a regular participant in oral interview panels for entry-level candidates.
Following your purchase and download of this E-Manual, the author will still be available for questions. He will not leave you alone. More... |
